Project Scope

During the No.8 Boiler Outage at Cleveland-Cliffs in Burns Harbor, IN, BMWC removed and replaced 864 hot side generation bank tubes, 67 primary and secondary superheat pendant assemblies, and 5,680 air heater tubes. Our team also installed new valves and upgraded the piping systems to meet the latest standards and improve performance.

• Completed 60,000 craft hours with zero first aid or recordable incidents.
• Finished the project under budget and four weeks ahead of schedule.
• Performed 436 welds with zero weld rejects.
• Machined and reconditioned 74 steam drum bores using a unique welding and machining process.
