Project Scope
The plantwide upgrade project involved replacing pressure leaf filters, removing and replacing rotary vacuum filters, and installing stainless steel piping to replace FRP piping. BMWC direct-hired pipefitters, boilermakers, millwrights, and operators, executing 35,000 craft-hours incident and injury-free.
The scope of work for the pressure leaf filter replacement included excavation and pouring new foundations, steel erection, roof and wall sheeting installation, and the installation of two pressure leaf filters, two tanks, and associated piping. The Rotary Vacuum Install (RVF) involved demolishing and replacing six existing RVFs, structural steel upgrades, installation of seven new RVFs, and all associated pumps and piping. The FRP piping replacement involved the installation of 6,000 linear feet of stainless steel piping.
BMWC’s project management team worked directly with the client during preconstruction to develop the scope of work, installation sequence, and schedule. Utilizing BMWC’s offsite fabrication facility to fabricate piping spools and structural steel improved efficiency. BMWC installed 782 piping spools, 455 pieces of structural steel, and 12 major pieces of equipment. In addition to flawless safety performance on the job, BMWC delivered the project with zero weld rejects.
